| Welcome back! The library is in full swing with students checking out books and coming for lessons. I thought it would be a good time to tell you about some happenings in the LLC. | |||||||||||||
First, children will begin to bring home books that they have checked out. With the exception of some reference materials, books are checked out for two week periods. All students are limited in the amount of books they may check out at a time.
Children that check out books are expected to be responsible for them, returning them in clean condition without damage. If a book is lost or damaged beyond repair, students are expected to pay the replacement cost. Those students that participated in the Summer Reading program need to return their record sheets to the LLC. Participants will be invited to a party to celebrate their success. Also, any student may order a “Summer Reading” t-shirt. Good news! The LLC will be collecting used ink jet cartridges and old cell phones. We will be sending these off to a recycling organization called EcoPhones. That organization in turn sends us a check. We love to add new books to the library! More Information Volunteers needed! We are in need of parent volunteers in the library. There are many different jobs that the volunteers do from the routine to the exceptional. I will be taking names of volunteers during Curriculum Night, or you can fill out the volunteer form and return it to school. Finally, once again, we are doing birthday books. Here’s how it works. When a child’s birthday (or half birthday) comes around, they may sponsor a new book for the library in honor of their birthday. It costs $15.00. The child chooses a book from a selection of new books, and then their picture is taken and placed inside the cover to commemorate the occasion. Students can pick up a form in the LLC. More information Have a good year, and stop by the library soon. Jan Johnson
